The Blessings of Liberty

What does “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” mean? Liberty is being free from restriction or control and being able to do what you desire. Even though the constitution tries to give us liberty, there are still restrictions, like laws, taxes, and many other things humanity needs to stay organized and keep a central government. However, we have the right to choose who rules us, by electing members of our government. Our constitutional rights are guaranteed to all citizens of the United States, young and old. Thus, “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” means that the Constitution will try to keep our freedom, and the freedom of our children, grand children, etc. (posterity).
